Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26 1991) better known by her real moniker Ari Lennox is an American musician and singer from Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist to be associated with J. Cole's record label Dreamville Records. She released her first EP for the label on Oct. 21 2016 titled Pho where she began gaining recognition. Shea Butter Baby her debut album was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox has uploaded her music on the internet since 2012 following the release of her first mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. Ari Lennox continued to upload her songs online throughout 2014, which included the self-released single Bound. She was featured in Omen's Elephant Eyes and in Sweat It Out on July 21, 2015. The following year, her music began to circulate around the Dreamville group as J. Cole wanted her to work with him on some references for Rihanna. The announcement that she would be signed by Dreamville Records was made on the 8th day of December. Backseat, a track she performed together with Cozz in The Revenge of the Dreamers II collaborative album. She released Pho, her debut EP on Oct 21, 2016. Ari Lennox performed the song Change by J. Cole as well as opening the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017 in which she was accompanied by EarthGang. The year 2018 saw Ari Lennox appeared on two tracks with EarthGang, on Nothing but the Best, and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox dropped her first single Whipped Cream from Shea Butter Baby on July 16th. The music video was released, followed by a music video September. On the 9th of November she dropped two more singles, the 40 Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. On the 13th of November two singles called The No One and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby is a track she sang together with Cole for Creed II's soundtrack on November 16th. It was then released as a single on its own in February 2019, to coincide with the release of her debut album. In February of 2019, the video music for this song was released. The track has garnered over 3 million YouTube views within a week. In December 2018, she performed as performing as a support act on From East Atlanta With Love Tour. From East Atlanta With Love Tour with 6LACK.
